BABYLON SUBURBAN ENGINE / CANDIDATE ONE

Alder Reach.

A 240 metre suburban world with 16 homes, gardens, streets and a canal. Walk through an open front door, try floating timber at a landing, or use the impact tool on a garden wall or the workshop. There are no missions.

Touch controls provide a movement stick, drag-to-look and action buttons. Upper storeys are façades; each ground floor is walkable. Cars are parked scenery.

What the world simulates

Babylon.js 9.26.0 renders the scene and Havok 1.3.14 handles rigid-body contact and gravity at a fixed 60 Hz. A shared analytic water surface drives the visible mesh, buoyancy and drag. Timber floats; the weighted impact spheres sink. Water is a wave-field approximation, without a fluid solver or physically complete refraction.

Physical collisions can break garden and workshop panels into authored fragments. Sufficient loss of workshop supports releases its roof. This is bounded game physics, not structural engineering: main house shells and bridge decks remain intact, and there is a limit of 96 moving bodies and 64 debris pieces.

A reusable foundation

Materials, static scene batching, water sampling, fixed stepping, exploration and demolition have separate interfaces. The floating-timber experiment in settings is an example removable future-game extension. The performance readout can capture ten seconds of measurements and download the result.

The WebGL 2 renderer is the default. The optional WebGPU renderer uses compatible native materials and falls back where unavailable. Detail presets change rendering costs while preserving the scenario and physics budgets. Frame intervals, CPU work and GPU elapsed time are different measurements; a faster renderer is not assumed.

All visual assets are original procedural work for this candidate. No assets from Brookside, Willowmere or the preserved water-kit were copied. These implementations remain independent.
